I just want to remind everyone that the first few weeks of the school year have a slower pace. We focus on the routines and expectations which slows us down because we are always reviewing and reminding until the wanted behaviors are learned. Transition times between activities are slow and noisy, which eats time away. Some of the material may seem too easy for particular children, but it is difficult to differentiate when the routines have not been mastered. I have added some information about our Foundations and Fusion times, but the pages are still works in progress. I wanted to make sure that what I could get ready, you had, even if its not pretty :) Please look at some of the information for the Daily 5 and the math programs we are using (we have not received the math series Investigations yet).

Have you heard anything more about making recordings of volunteers reading books? We've got Audacity and a microphone ready to go as soon as the details are ready.

Mr. Griffin is in charge of our reading programs and is leading the change to books on Mp3's. He said you could contact him at [email protected]. He is looking for volunteers that are great readers, can multi-task (since you need to read and make the page turning sounds), and that can be very expressive so the kids want to always hear the story. Thanks for remaining interested!

The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives. Me, Me, MeI enjoy problem solving, designing, creating, communicating, collaborating, etc.... all of which I expect my students to do. I hope that we have an enjoyable and successful year!
