As mentioned in the letter you will be getting (also see below), we still use a standards based way of grading, which means that we do not average grades. We look at progress and work on getting students to understand the concept (M). If they are limited (L) or still progressing (P) we continue to revisit and reassess the skills. Unfortunately, final grades will be unreliable until I enter them for grade cards because the system wants to average things. Please pay little attention to any final or average grades and focus more on the separate activities your child is completing and the marks that s/he earns. These will show you specific skills your child is understanding and which ones still need practice. A (+) means that your child is doing well and needs no intervention. A (-) means your child is still practicing the skill and/or is not showing consistency with understanding.
