Tonight's homework of Math pg. 10 was not sent home. We have not gotten to that point yet in the math book, but hopefully we will be able to send it home tomorrow. Cross your fingers that we progress faster with our math routine as the days go on...
Here is the agenda for the week. Remember to check your child's written agenda though. Things don't always flow the way we plan and activities or homework may shift to other days. I always sign the agenda to verify that it was written correctly. Here's to another great week!
I have been working like crazy to update our page. I didn't realize how much of our policies, procedures, programs, etc. that have been tweaked or changed for this year. There are still things I am working on, but I think the main things (most important) are all updated. If you have already been looking through the parent information pages, please do so again. I went through them all tonight and made the changes. Thank you for keeping up to date and for all the positive notes I have been getting from you about the time I spend on the site. I really appreciate it and it keeps me motivated to continue the postings and updates! I will post here when more updates are made and look for the "draft" brain boost and agenda page posted here at the beginning of the week!
We had a great first week! We have a few behaviors that we will be working on and fine tuning, but over all we have an extremely well behaved class. I am so excited for the year ahead! Today we sent home lunch menus to oldest siblings in the building. Unfortunately, one of our little ones forgot their menu in the classroom. If you did not get one, please let me know. The homework for the week is to continue the Connect Four board sent home on the first day of school. Normally it will be due weekly, but since it is a new idea, the children were given 2 weeks. We have a new fluency sheet this week. The students brought home a sheet explaining how to do these readings (see below for the document). Continue to check the agenda each night because even though I post it at the beginning of the week, things change and can be taken off, moved, or added. I will be posting photos of the wetlands from today, so stay tuned! Have a wonderful weekend! Reading Fluency Week 2Fluency Parent LetterConnect 4 Homework Choice Board (continue from last week)Reading LogWhat a fantastic day! We were very tired and had difficulties listening by the end of the day, but we will get used to the routines and expectations in no time! Tomorrow, it is very important to have old shoes or boots for our trip to the wetlands. We will go in the afternoon and again on Friday. You will want your child to have on regular shoes and then change into the wetlands wear. Please send an extra pair of socks as well.
Your child does have homework. Please read yesterday's post for details and printables if you need them. Looking forward to another SPARKly day tomorrow! What a fabulous first day of school! We had an outstanding group of kids today and I just know tomorrow will be just as great! We covered alot of different things today and we will continue to review those things as the week goes on. Remember, if your child came today, they do not come tomorrow. We will see them all on Wednesday.
Today we sent home some papers for class. We wrote in our agenda, so please review it and sign it. This verifies to me that you are checking it and the folder each night. If you have questions or notes, you can include them in the agenda, in the folder, or send me an email at [email protected]. Wednesday, we will be visiting the wetlands, so please send in old shoes or boots that can be worn out there. It is also a good idea to have fresh socks in the bookbag. If your child has old shoes that day, it would be better if they wear their regular shoes and change into the old ones. That way, when they are dirty, they can change back into the regular shoes. We will also be visiting the wetlands on Friday. Here is the first week's morning brain boost and agenda. This is a reference for you in case you don't see the agenda or if you cannot read the agenda (I'm not saying that ever happens). This gives you a heads up for what needs to be done and can hopefully help you plan your evenings. The brain boost is part of this for our morning routine use, but you can use it to spark conversation at home about the school day.
Homework this week includes the following: Fluency Sheet Connect 4 Math Sheet (this comes out of their math workbook) Parent information this week includes (but not limited to): Math Family Letter (pg M3-4) Math Family Letter (pg M7-8) Fluency Practice Letter Soon, this information will be disussed here, but the forms and paperwork will be on the "Homework" page of our site. That site is password protected to ensure that copyrights are protected for things that I will make available to you but do not want to make available to the rest of the world. I will send home the password information soon. Until then, I hope this information helps in the crazy week ahead! I look forward to seeing your children on Monday and Tuesday! Ok... So I am also connecting this account to twitter in order to make more ways for you to follow us and get updates! I hope that this also makes things easier and not more difficult :)
I am trying to help with the updates and information that you will be receiving and some of us at Summit are now trying to integrate Facebook as a means of communication. I am going to request that you email me or contact me through this page for anything you need, but feel free to like or join the Facebook page to get notifications. This is new to me as a school idea and I am hoping it makes things easier for everyone and not more difficult. Check it out at Facebook.com "Teach to be Happy"!
