We are having a classroom birthday celebration in honor of everyone’s birthday. To make it special and unique, we are making it a Birthday Giving Party! A parent had told me earlier in the year about a website called Family to Family. http://www.family-to-family.org/AdultsGivingParties.html. When I checked it out, it had a tremendous amount of ways our students could use compassion to help others. One thing that really caught my eye was the Birthday Giving Party. I contacted them and they connected me with the Columbus group called The Homeless Families Foundation. http://homelessfamiliesfoundation.com . They are extremely excited that we are going to be having this party and I can imagine the faces of the children that will benefit from this. You are invited to join us! When: Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 1:15-2:15 (before our KidzTempo program) Where: In our classroom at Summit Elementary What to bring: Bring anything to donate that your own child would love to have at a party. Leave things packaged and do not wrap them. Good items could be boxes of cake mix, jars of frosting, new birthday candles, party hats or favors, wrapping paper, packages of party plates and napkins, small $5-10 gift, unused wall decorations, gently used or new books, etc. A birthday treat will be provided by Mrs. Patterson. If you would like to contribute or volunteer, please e-mail her at [email protected].
I have an activity in mind that would be cool for the kids to take home at the end of school. I need fun shaped silicone ice cube trays or muffin pans. They will not be good for food anymore and I would like to keep them for next year. If anyone can donate some, that would be fabulous! New or used accepted :)
