Some classroom reminders:
1. Library is EVERY Monday and the books need to be at school, even if your child is renewing them. The books can stay at school, go home, or stay in the bookbag, but they must be back every Monday.
2. Thursday is always Health & Wellness. Athletic shoes are needed in order to participate appropriately in the activities. Please be sure your child is dressing appropriately.
3. With winter disappearing, please speak to your child about not wearing his/her coat and gloves in the classroom. I never allow gloves, but with the cool weather, I was allowing coats. However, this interferes with learning and the children are starting to lose/misplace their coats during the day when they decide they are too hot. If your child needs variety, please dress him/her in layers so that a sweatshirt can be put on or taken off and either put on the back of a chair or tied around the waist.
4. The homework page was moved to the side of this blog to make space across the top bar of choices. Just click on the button and enter the password.
5. Don't forget that your child has homework every night and it is due every Friday. Please continue to check the agenda for different daily notes as well.
Some classroom needs:
1. Rolls and rolls of masking tape.
2. Rolls of clear tape.
3. Empty, clean, dry, cardboard, half gallon juice cartons with the caps. We will be doing our community fusion unit in about 5 weeks and we need many of these cartons. Each child will use 1 carton personally and 2-4 within a group. This unit is done with the entire 2nd grade, so the more you can send in the better! It doesn't matter what was in them, as long as they are the cardboard cartons and not the plastic jugs.
Here are your daily happenings:
March 11 is the first day with our student teacher, Miss Francis! She will be observing mostly this week and helping out when she is comfortable. She will be getting to know the children and learning their personalities as well as needs.
March 11-15 is the book fair in the library. Your child has a chance to win a gift card by creating a reading super hero for Mrs. Eberst. The book fair will be open during the Art Show and Spaghetti Dinner on Thursday.
March 14 is the Spaghetti Dinner and Art Show at school in the evening. This is a fabulous event planned
by Mrs. Gaughenbaugh and our PTO. Don't forget to buy tickets for the dinner ahead of time!
March 18-22 is common assessment week. We will have our math assessment on Tuesday and reading assessment on Wednesday. Be sure your child is rested and has eaten a healthy breakfast. Please try to avoid appointments, absences, and early dismissals on those days. Any make-ups will be done that week.
March 22 is the end of the 9-week period.
March 28 is when grade cards will be sent home.
March 29-April 7 is spring break! Get some well deserved family time and relax!
